Based in Central Victoria, ECK Wines was borne out of love to create and wanting life to be "of the land".
After growing up in the leafy streets of inner eastern Melbourne and working as a Collins Street Lawyer for 5 years, I yearned to return to what I loved - making and creating, and then sharing those creations with friends and family. It wasn't until I moved to the Macedon Ranges in 2016 that the idea of making a living from the land started to form.
I took my last V-Line train commute into Melbourne in 2019, and started my first vintage as Assistant Winemaker at Hanging Rock Winery. At that time, I'd recently taken over a small vineyard in the Heathcote Wine Region, on the northern banks of Lake Eppalock, where I grow Shiraz organically, whilst also working as a négociant producer, sourcing fruit from an established network of Central and Western Victorian sites.
More recently, in October 2024, I took over the management of a 5-acre site in the Macedon Ranges, where I grow Pinot Noir and Gewürztramminer. The vines were planted in 1987, at an altitude of 800m, so I feel very privileged to be farming such unique and special site.
My first wines were released in late 2019 and I currently have two ranges: my Core Range, being those wines I make every year from my own vineyards and those vineyards I have worked with for a long time; and my Appellation Range, being those wines I make from once off parcels of fruit. My hope is that my wines capture history, elegance, lineage, and grace, whilst also bringing excitement and energy to the bottle.
